Buying for Indonesia and Bangladesh: An Import-Preparation Checklist
Prepare the product identity, commercial documents and technical file before discussing a shipment. Import requirements depend on the goods and destination; the importer and customs professional must confirm current classification and clearance requirements.
Make the quotation identify the goods
Use the exact commercial grade, supplied form, quantity and packaging description rather than only “optical brightener”. Align those details with the product label and technical documents. Provide the destination and agreed delivery basis when discussing price and timing. This preparation reduces avoidable mismatches between purchasing and shipment documentation; it is not a guarantee that a particular shipment will be accepted by customs.
Separate commercial, technical and batch documents
Discuss the commercial invoice, packing information and transport documents with the parties handling the shipment. Ask which current TDS, SDS and batch-specific quality documents can be supplied for the exact goods. A TDS describes technical information; it is not the same as a batch test record or proof of customs clearance. Confirm whether an origin document or other destination-specific record is required before shipment, rather than assuming one generic document pack works everywhere.
Use the official destination channels
For Indonesia, consult the Directorate General of Customs and Excise and have the importer confirm the applicable procedure. For Bangladesh, the National Board of Revenue’s Customs import guidance is a starting point for the importer and clearing agent. Rules and product-specific requirements can change. This page does not prescribe an HS code, tax rate, permit requirement or guaranteed clearance time; obtain a shipment-specific assessment from the responsible customs professional.
Plan dates as milestones, not promises
Separate sample review, specification agreement, order confirmation, document preparation, dispatch and destination clearance in your schedule. Ask each responsible party what information is still missing. The current catalogue is not a commitment to a fixed delivery period, and serving a target market does not prove an established local warehouse or agent. Contact Sunway Chemicals with your destination, grade and quantity so the actual supply discussion can be made specific.
Bring these points to the discussion

- Importer/broker review before shipment.
- Keep technical and commercial documents consistent.
Catalogue information supports initial selection. Request the current TDS/SDS and evaluate a representative sample before production.
